If you already have a store, install the plugin for it and skip this page. If you are still deciding, here is the short version.

WordPress + WooCommerce

The biggest theme and plugin community, and the easiest to extend. It is the best all-rounder.

Shopify

Hosted and fastest to launch, with nothing to maintain, but deep customization is limited.

OpenCart

Lightweight and open source. Good if you want the essentials and nothing more.

PrestaShop

Module-based and more full-featured. It suits large catalogs, but needs more server power.

BigCommerce

Hosted, with more built in out of the box than Shopify.

Ecwid

Bolts a store onto an existing site. It has the simplest setup of the platforms listed here.
